After a healing period, a new tooth or "crown" is attached to the implant with a screw or connector piece known as an abutment. The final crown will match your natural teeth in color and function. When properly maintained, dental implants can often last a lifetime. The process usually consists of an initial consultation, tooth removal and implant placement, possible bone grafting and final crown delivery after healing.  These implant procedures are almost always done in conjunction with your general dentist who assists in designing and delivering your new tooth.

Most implants are made of a medical-grade titanium alloy, to ensure both strength and compatibility with your jaw bone and body. The final crown can be made of porcelain, ceraminc, or zirconia depending on its location in the mouth and your bite.
